About Carpenter
Founded in 1924, Carpenter Avenue Elementary School, now Carpenter Community Charter, is Studio City's neighborhood school (TK-5th grade), with a population of approximately 900 students. Carpenter has become an outstanding community school, with a strong collaboration between school administration, faculty, our parent groups, and our community partners.

Since the 1990s (and most recently in 2018), we received the designation of a California Distinguished School with special recognition of an Exemplary Arts Award. Carpenter is just 1 of 35 schools (5%) in LAUSD to receive "A" status for its arts programs in the most recent rankings by the LA Times. Each year we strive to offer a superior learning environment for all of our students, based on strong academics, a variety of enrichment programs, and an educational experience that meets the needs of all children.
In 2009, Carpenter applied for Affiliated Charter status with LAUSD to ensure the future of our enriched, hands-on learning program and to localize decision-making and accountability. In June 2010, Carpenter was granted Charter status by the school district. We are currently operating in our third charter plan.
Our goal at Carpenter is to continue to provide a ground-breaking instructional program that encourages all children to embrace learning, achieve to their highest potential, and master a 21st century curriculum.
