CODE OF CONDUCT

Bicycles, Skateboards, Scooters, and Skates

Skateboards, scooters, shoes with wheels, and skates are not allowed on school grounds. Students who ride bikes to school must wear a helmet, must walk the bike on school grounds, and must have a signed bicycle registration card on file in the office.

Cell Phones

It is the policy of the Los Angeles Unified School District to prohibit the use of cellular phones, pagers, or any electronic signaling device by students on campus during normal school hours or school activities. If such a device is observed by staff during school hours or activities, it will be confiscated until claimed by a parent or guardian.

Dress Code

While uniforms are not required at Carpenter, please keep in mind that children should be dressed in a manner which is clean, safe, and does not detract from the learning environment. Please avoid brief and midriff-baring fashions. As students play and participate in physical activities during recess, lunch and physical education, please provide your child with appropriate closed-toe, flat-heeled shoes or sneakers. In the interest of safety, no long dresses, extremely long pants, or hoop earrings larger than 1/4 inch in diameter should be worn. Students may not wear hats in class. Students wearing clothing with inappropriate wording or graphics will be asked to turn the clothing inside out or call home for a change of clothing.

Games and Toys

All personal games and toys are to be left at home. The school cannot be held responsible for damage, theft or loss. If such a device is observed by staff during school hours or activities, it will be confiscated until claimed by a parent or guardian.
